The Martha's Vineyard Museum inspires all people to discover, explore, and strengthen their connections to this Island and its diverse heritage.
It was originally known as the Dukes County Historical Society, founded in 1922 and incorporated the following year. The founders first acquired revolutionary era documents, which started the collection.
The Museum rents lawns on the Edgartown and Vineyard Haven Marine Hospital campus for weddings, special events, and other private parties. What could be more unforgettable than getting married or having a private party in the shadow of one of the Island's historic lighthouses? Both the East Chop and Edgartown Lighthouses are available for private rental.
