The Martha’s Vineyard Diversity Coalition (MVDC) is excited to welcome you to our second annual TRUTH & JOY celebration. A FREE one-day event, on Saturday, July 22nd that offers islanders and visitors an opportunity to explore and celebrate our rich, diverse cultures with art, music, food, and more!
We would be honored to have your support of this wonderful event and the work that the MVDC does in our community.
The MVDC’s mission is to lay the groundwork to eradicate racism. We aim to work with agencies and institutions with a mission to build Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion into their cultures by a focus on health disparities, criminal justice and education, providing workshops, consultations, support community-based projects through collaboration and to try to promote unity, trust, and respect among those doing similar work in the community.
What is our 2nd annual “Truth & Joy”? This year: a one-day event:
Saturday, 11:00 am: Opening Ceremony at the Wamsutta Ave. parking area.
Saturday afternoon, July 22nd, 12 Noon – 6 pm: A Martha’s Vineyard Diversity marketplace featuring food, art, and tables of information celebrating the island’s diverse culture, as well as organizations dedicated to equity, inclusion, and diversity. Island middle & high school students present an educational panel & musical entertainment with Kyle Williams, of A Long Talk About an Uncomfortable Truth.
Saturday evening, July 22nd, 6-8 pm: JOY! A night to amplify our diverse voices and artistry. Together we will celebrate with fun entertainment including music and special performances.
