Located off of State Road in West Tisbury. Also known as Manitouwattootan, by the Native Algonquins is a "place of spirits." Given by Sachem Josias in 1659 as a praying town for converts to Christianity. It bears testament to the Native Americans of Martha’s Vineyard. Native American graves reflect both pagan and Christian beliefs. A tiny chapel built in 1828 still stands.
